It seems like a natural follow-up to last week’s Citrine.  Amethyst was one of my very first crystals.  My grandmother was a major rock hound and gave me my very first tumbled amethyst chip.  Of course I was very young at the time and I have no idea where that stone ended up, but the beautiful purple crystal will always bring back happy memories.

Amethyst is one of the easiest stones to acquire.  If you’re just starting a stone collection, make this the second stone on your checklist right after clear quartz.  Amethyst has always been considered the February birthstone, and is also associated with Wednesday.
