I hope you lovelies are having a wonderful holiday season. December is a very special month for Awakening in a Box. The first series wraps up with a complete set of stones for each of the Seven Major Chakras. This is especially helpful for folks who subscribed in the middle of the series or are gifting a month to a friend for the holidays. I came in during the Heart Chakra month in August. January will begin the 4 month series on elements.
This box came at such a perfect time. It’s been a scary week for us. My sweet lady cat started acting strange Tuesday afternoon, and long story short, she’s stuck inside our big training kennel taking antibiotics for the next 10 days. I feel so bad for her. It’s been a stressful holiday week so far. I am so so thankful that my box arrived Thursday to give me a break from worrying about a situation where I’m already doing everything I can.
I knew that this month would contain seven stones, plus the extra that I get when I share my pretties with all of you. I also knew that there would be some sort of extra, but I had no idea it would be a beautiful tote bag. I haven’t seen a print repeated among the other subscribers yet, but all are tie-dyed designs. My bag features the Tree of Life, and I love it so much. It feels very personal and special to me right now, because I’ve been doing a great deal of genealogy research lately. I also mentioned last week that it makes me feel so happy knowing that somewhere so far back in my bloodline, there’s a tiny shrew creature who is my xth-great grandmother (yours too!).
Let’s take a look at the stones in this month’s box.
Starting with the Root Chakra, I have received Hematite, so named for the red powder it produces when ground or tumbled. I’ve always found this one beautiful, and even have a hematite ring in my collection. It’s always advised, when you do higher chakra work (third eye and crown) that you ground yourself with hematite afterward.
For the Sacral Chakra, I have received Dalmatian, a type of jasper. This is a first for me. There are many types of jasper, but I actually didn’t have this one yet. It’s creamy and peppery. Definitely sounds like I needed this one; I’m an over-analyzer and I certainly needed some help maintaining my composure this week.
Fancy Jasper represents the Solar Plexus. As I’ve said, jasper comes so many types, you’re guaranteed to have some variation for every chakra. This jungle green and burgundy piece is powerful, for sure.
The Heart Chakra is represented with Emerald. This is a better portion of emerald that my other pieces. If I was feeling otherwise, emerald’s lesson certainly applies today. The universe always has a way of throwing me a bone. Sure, I deal with plenty of wrenches in the gears, but I also experience happy surprises reminding me that things are going to be okay.
Dumortierite represents the Throat Chakra. It’s possible I’ve had some of this and didn’t realize it. I probably thought it was sodalite, but compared side by side, they do have very different qualities. This stone is a very large piece and it really wants to be held. Perhaps I’m in need of soothing and patience right now.
The Third Eye is represented with Unakite. I’ve always loved the bright (if not clashy) pink and green of unakite. These colors together balance thought and action. This is another large piece.
Tree Agate represents the Crown Chakra. I could have a dozen pieces of this and still appreciate dozens more. They’re all unique and beautiful. It sort of ties in with the Tree of Life, no?
I also received this Red Lemurian Seed along with a note from the curator. If you’d like to subscribe, this is an excellent time to do so. The new series starts in January. The series will be 4 Elements beginning with Water. I can’t wait to see what’s inside!
