I’ve had an account on Polyvore for at least a year and never published any sets with it.  Today, I went a little crazy with it.  I put together three sets already.  The only time I’ve really seen anyone in my circle use the site was to make Hogwarts house themed sets, and I’ve always considered it a great resource for character design.
