Pink Monster

I didn’t start the night with the pink wig, but my boyfriend’s head got hot, so he handed it over.  When I put it on, people started telling me I need to just dye my hair pink, because it “works.”  You may know, if you’ve followed this blog for a while, that I only started wearing pink at 31.  It started out as a joke, because I wanted to mess with people.  I’ve been anti-pink all my life, and I got hilarious reactions from people seeing me with pink stuff (like a pink Nintendo DS or pink earbuds).

So how have I missed out on one of my best color compliments?!  I remember, several years ago, stumbling onto my grandmother’s Color me Beautiful book.  It was an old edition with outdated fashion.  I didn’t want to be a “cool” because I didn’t like pinks and purples.  They seemed too feminine for me and that wasn’t the image I wanted to present.  I can say “I missed so many years of my young life where it would have been totally acceptable to have pink hair,” but that’s not why I’m here, Late Bloomers.  Forget about what you could have done in your younger years if you only knew.  That’s not coming back.  Age doesn’t have to be a reason you can’t be who you want to be.  Employment is another story.  I don’t think I could get away with it at work, but it’s not going to be a question of whether I’m too old for that hair.
